Well, Hi!
As the title says, Hi!
I have no idea how many people are going to read my random musings, but who knows what people do in their spare time..
I guess I should introduce myself. I am Ainyria (this is one of my many nicknames).
I'm currently a 22yo Dutch/Asian girl/woman who is a medical student at the Academic Medical Center of Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam.
I'm in my second year by now, and I've suddenly become somewhat knowledgeable about hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease, since I'm also a patient with Graves' disease.
So I'm both a patient and a medical student at the same time. Win! (Not really.)
This is a blog I'm using as a sort of diary and emotional purgatory throughout my journey in becoming a doctor and dealing with Graves.
This is it for now.
See you around!
Old text here.
I'll introduce myself. I'm Ainyria (one of my many nicknames) I've got a bunch of nicknames, but I'll spare you the details.
As of now, I'm a 19yo Dutch/Asian girl. I recently graduated from high school, and tried to enroll in med school, but sadly, they didn't take me (yet).
Many, many years ago, I decided I wanted to become a doctor. Before that, I wanted to become an angel, but dear Gods, I've never seen angels before, so I figured becoming a doctor was the closest thing to becoming an angel. I've strayed from this path for several times during the last years when I considered becoming a psychologist or vet, but in the end, I returned to the original plan: become a doc.
I currently work in a hospital as a cleaner, although this won't last long (3.5 weeks at most), and although I dislike cleaning, I really like hospitals, which is why I've set my eyes on becoming a doc. again.
So far, I've visited several divisions, such as Cardiology, Oncology, Pulmonary Diseases, Urology and Cerebral Vascular Diseases/Neurology. None of them seem to draw me, but the thought of getting into the ER seems appealing, so for the coming years, I'll probably be focusing on ER medicine.
Well, enough for now.
See ya around, hopefully.
PS. Both my English and my Dutch suck, so bear with me! Please!
PS 2: For those of you who wonder about the meaning of 'Makhaira', it's 'Knife' or 'Sword' in ancient Greek.
PS 3: I've renamed my blog to Purexia, derived from 'Pyrexia', meaning 'fever'.
