I'd like to present Plague Inc. to you guys.
It is an Android game, available for free in the Google Play Store/Android Market.
It's also available in the iTunes store for Apple devices :)
I've been told that it is similar to the Pandemic flash game, although I haven't tested it.
I also happened to find the Official Cinematic Trailer. Oh la la!
In Plague Inc., you take control of a pest of your choice, and your goal is to drive mankind into extinction.
To do this, you have to carefully plan your moves and evolve your pest accordingly. Scientists and doctors will try to drive you into extinction while you try to destroy mankind.
Before you get to play pests other than the common Bacteria, you'll have to beat each level on Normal difficulty before you unlock the next.
Here, you'll see that I've unlocked every normal pest. There are several special pests as well. Unlocking them either requires you play every normal plague on brutal settings, or pay a tiny amount of money.
Every Plague Type has its own traits and play style.
For those in favor of the Zombie Apocalypse: As of V.1.5, there's a new plague: Necroa Virus. This is essentially a zombie virus. H1Z1, anyone?
As you start the game, you'll be asked to name your Plague (Aw, that's kind of cute. A Pet Plague..) and to pick a starting location. Each location has its own pros and cons.
In the Disease window, which you can access in the lower left corner of your world map, you can evolve your Pet Plague. You start out with absolutely zero lethality, and minimum infectivity, although you can boost it using evolved traits (which you can unlock once you earn enough DNA points).
Certain symptoms, when activated in pairs, make for interesting 'combos', some of which make me giggle like a child. (Try Diarrhea and Sneezing, for example).
I definitely approve of the occasional weirdo news reports and combos.
I like the way Ndemic Creations tried to make it realistic. Boats and airplanes can carry your pest on board, but they could also have set up increased antimicrobial regulations, making it a lot harder for your plague to spread. Newly infected countries have a red bio-hazard bubble pop-up, which you can tap to earn DNA points.
In the end, the world should be yours, as is visualized by a red world map. The redder, the better.
Once there are no healthy non-carriers left, you've won the game (in short: everyone has to succumb to your plague).
While it may seem simple, beating this game isn't a mindless process. It's quite fun, and sometimes, quite frustrating. Try it. I dare you.
Plague Inc. was created by Ndemic Creations and published and ported to Android by Miniclip. I only published the screenshots as part of my review, but other than playing it on my cutesy little Samsung device, Plague Inc. is by no means mine.
